Effective Care for Insect Bites  including NHS prescription only medicines now available at our Pharmacy as part of NHS Pharmacy First

All individuals aged 1 or over are eligible for this NHS funded service when suffering from an infected insect bite.

Experiencing an insect bite is common, especially during warmer months. Most bites are harmless and resolve quickly, but infected bites need more attention. Pharmacy First Bristol is here to assist.

Recognising the Symptoms

Most of us are familiar with the symptoms of an insect bite: redness, swelling, and itching. However, signs of an infected bite may involve increased redness or warmth around the bite, pus, or an enlarging area of pain. Fever and swollen lymph nodes can also indicate an infection. In children, look for excessive crying or irritation at the bite site.

  • Antihistamine Creams or Tablets: Relieve itching and reduce swelling.
